From Jay-Jay to Mieszko

Our newest and fourth cat , is a sweet Norwegian Forest Cat.
Norwegian Forest Cats look like Lynx, have thick coats that protect them from the severe cold Norway weather, they have strong claws that lets them climb rocks!
Wow! Don't they sound so strong?!

I thought, "what if he is the total dominating macho-man type, beating up Walter and Pazzy, the two boys of this house??"

Hmmm.... maybe not!
His supposedly strong rock-climbing claws
look like bunny feet , furry and cute!

He is 2months younger than Pazzy, little older than Walter, but doesn't seem to be interested in being a manly-male at all.
He previously lived with 2 girl bengal cats.
He also had a sister who chewed his tail when they were kittens so he has a shorter tail than a normal Norwegian Forest Cat. Poor boy!
Maybe that's how he is in touch with his feminine side? His name "Jay-Jay" is a little too fitting for this boy!!

Shane said,
"You always get to pick the names so I'm going to give him a cool name!"
I got no problem with that, as long as it's a good name!

So we tried, "Samson", "Cronos"... all strong, cool, MAN-LY names!
Does he look like "Samson" to you?
Or "Cronos"?
Sorry, but he seemed a bit too wimpy to be these names!
When a cat shows his stomach, it means his defenses are all down, completely trusts you, or is inviting to play (and swipppppe in our cats cases!).

In this boy's case, he loves his tummy stroked and he NEVER, EVER swipes!

And no, he isn't dead, he is sleeping!!
Hahahahaha!

Anybody who sleeps like that, is a trusting, undefensive cat who has a no bad bone in his body!

He quickly adjusted to the family.
The other guys did the usual growling at first, but they soon discovered what a big softie he was!

Plus they were all getting used to adapting a new member into the family by now!!

But what to do about his name?
We wanted to name him something special.

After going through couple of more names, we finally decided to name him "Mieszko" in honor of my husband's friend, who is no longer with us.
He is the reason why we are together and we have this family, so it seemed very fitting.

So Mieszko it was, we call him "Mieszky" for short!

He was very quick to learn his name because he is really smart and he is always listening to what we say. When you talk to him, he is always listening to you , trying to understand....
Which is unusual for a cat, cuz cats usually only pay attention to you whenever they feel like it! Hahaha!
Mieszky has dog-like qualities, loyal and always there for you!

Mieszky is such a good boy!!

There's Something About Walter...

W hen I fist saw Walter, I thought he was so cuddly and cuuute, like a fuzzy bear...
I especially love his fluffy head!!

When he came to our house, he was
really skinny with a pointy face and pointy ears, and fluffy soft fur.
He looks different in every photo, now that is one cat that's got depth!

This is Walter when he just wakes up. His eyes are still sleeeeepy!
He has the funniest face!

Adorable!!!

But my hubby says he's One funny lookin' Cat!

What do you mean, he's funny lookin'?!?!
He's black, fuzzy, and handsome, right???
My hubby's just jealous because Walter is so cuddly!

Everyone who comes to the house says Pazzy is handsome, but not Walter.

"Handsome Pazzy"

&
"Funny Lookin' Wally".

Why?!?!

hmmm?...Wait.....

There IS
something unusual about him....

When you look at him from the front,
you will notice....

Mieszko the Norwegian Softie

There is a saying,

"Two's a company, three's a crowd" ..... this is a well known fact!
Hime , Paz , and Walter, I thought , this was it!

But nooooo, my friend Dennis who is a big cat lover and had two cats as well, got a 3rd cat,
A NORWEGIAN FOREST CAT!

Sounds really cool and wickedddd!

He sent us a pic of the new Norwegian Forest Cat, and I showed Shane....
He looked at the pic and said , "WooooooowwW!!!! I want one tooo!!!!"

What?????

Picking poop up for three greedy cats is tough enough, he's GOT to be crazy!

But his theory is,
"Three is an odd number so it's no good, we have to have an even number."
and he started oggling Norwegian Forest Cats on websites....

I said, "How do you even know you're gonna like Norwegian Forest Cats , you've never seen an actual one, and nor have I. "

I've never had a pedigree cat, all the cats I've had are moggles and they were all special and great,
it's all about the personality.

"They're cats, aren't they? What is there NOT to like?????"
was his response.... yes, I guess there is no such thing as a boring cat!

So we decided to go check one out.
He found this 18months old boy Norwegian Forest Cat that needed a new home due to the owner getting allergies.
We asked the lady who was selling him, " what is his name?"

His name was "Jay-Jay".

Not the evil Norwegian Forest Cat name that we were imagining! Ha!

But he looked so awesome!!! We were like, "Wowwwwwww!" again.
It was 2 hour drive away, I had just started to drive, so with Shane's questionable navigating of the SatNav, we got there after 3 hours....
This is what we saw!
He was friendly and purry, he gave me a friendly head-butt!
And we said
" YES!"
(a-gain!)

He was very quiet on the drive back, when we brought him to his new house,
we gave him the spare living room as his new room to give him the space from the other guys, especially Suspicious Princess Hime! We all know she needs her 72 hour trial period!

"Jay-Jay" was very friendly, he sat on our housemate Danny's lap straightaway.
He started to snore!
Doesn't he look like Gandolf when he is sleeping?!

He is such a sweet boy, loves affection, big softie lapcat!
Comes to sit on your lap just when you feel like you need some lovin!
At the end of the day, it's ALL about the personality.

And he's got it!

Moving house with the Terror Munchkins

It was good thing we bought a new house,

cuz WE NEED MORE ROOM FOR OUR CATS!

This house was bright and beautiful, with a stunning garden in the back!!

I brought Aslan over a couple of times to the new house before we moved in.

He had his harness and lead on, took him around the house.

He's brave and likes adventure so he sniffed around, getting to know the place.

I thought it would be important for him to get to know the place because he is very territorial. And if he is familiar with the place, maybe it would be calming for the rest of the guys when we all move in.

One of the things we did straightaway before we moved the munchkins in, we took the carpet out and put in new flooring in the living room.

Because the living room is the room that everyone, cats and people, hang out, it is important that it is easy to clean.

We also got a HUGE Cat Tower to put in the living room!

This is Hime when we brought her into the house,
she was perched on my husband's shoulder , scared.
Then she saw the cat tree, took an interest to it.
She thought it was the only other safe place in this new house!

Hiiiiiiii-Me , Princess of POWER!

N ow that Hime has all these little brothers now,
she is the oldest and most grown-up,
always looking after her little brothers---

NOT!!!!

Hime , our Princess, still manages to be the Princess of Mischief...

The Parting of the Seven Seas

She admits, being Mischievous has never been more fun since she's got more company!

What in the world is she doing up there??? Must be a princess secret mission thing....

Helps being Bendy...

Uhhh, Hime, I wouldn't stick my head in there if I was you!!!

She's got a POWER SPOT on her tummy, which is the patch of white fur , you can't see it normally, but when she's up to no good, most often you can see it!!!
POWER SPOT is the Secret to her special powers!

Here it is again!

Because of the POWER SPOT, it makes her 10000 times cuter!
Don't you want to rub her fuzzy POWER SPOT ???
Oh, but the problem is ,

when you see that POWER SPOT , she usually wants to play and Swwwwwipe at You!

Names names names!

What do you name a boy that likes ladies handbags and ladies dresses?

hmmm.... it's hard one!

He is not Macho cat like our Aslan,
not very territorial at all.
He is a softie, (both fur and personality!) appreciates nice handbags and my nice dresses, he ALWAYS makes effort to sit on them!

He comes to cuddle with Hime when she's sleeping!
Awwwww......!

There is something unisex about this little boy.
We figured, maybe we got a girl-y boy cat, and hey, that's fine too!

After going through many boy names that my hubby thought was cool
("You always get to name the cats so now it's MY TURN!")
they all didn't seem to fit this sweet bundle of fluff.

At the time, I was playing the band, Quicksand, a lot, rediscovering what a great band they were,
thought,
"how about 'Walter' ?"

"Walter" seemed like a great soft, gentle boy name.
I liked how the sounds rolled out from your tongue!
He looked like a Walter to me!

We call him "Walter", "Waller", "Wall-ee", and when he is being feminine, "Wallene"!
He doesn't mind either, as long as it involves eating!
He'll "prrrrrr----prrrrr" and dust your leg with his bushy tail!

So that is how we came to have Hime, Aslan, Walter ,
the Three Terror Munchkins in our family!
